An observation needs to reach someone

Velaya starts with a practical question: how could a change in the forest air become useful information for the person responsible for that land? We are developing small forest sensors and a platform to help answer it. Our aim is to identify possible signs of fire and show where they came from.

The warning is part of a person’s work

A forest manager needs to decide what requires attention during an ordinary working day. A warning tied to a place, a time and recent observations could help them decide what to check. That is the role we are designing Velaya Cloud to serve. The person and the site’s established procedures remain central to any response.

Starting with the sensor prototype

Our team is developing the sensor prototype. Local tests come next, followed by a field pilot when the equipment and site are ready. We need to establish what the sensor can observe and how conditions outside affect those observations. Field performance and coverage remain questions for testing.

A team with a global aim

Founder Alexei Cosetov brings a background in data engineering and AI. The team works across Spain, Bulgaria, Italy and Moldova, with forests worldwide in mind. We want to hear from people who manage woodland and could help define what a useful trial should examine.
